Tradescantia
Spiderwort is grown for its showy three-petaled flowers and attractive, clump-forming foliage. It can be used to brighten wet, boggy sites though it prefers moist, acidic, humusy soils. Plants can be cut back as the heat of summer sets in to promote new foliage growth and an additional late summer to fall bloom. Deadheading once all the buds on a flower head have opened extends the bloom period as well.
